Invest New Zealand has welcomed discussions between New Zealand and Thai businesses focused on strengthening investment and commercial partnerships across energy, sustainability, advanced manufacturing and food security.

Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's largest economies and sits at the centre of regional manufacturing and supply chains, with access to ASEAN's market of more than 600 million people. As New Zealand continues to strengthen its international investment relationships, Thailand represents an important partner across a number of priority sectors.

Discussions highlighted the opportunities emerging from the energy transition. As countries across the region respond to growing electricity demand driven by industrial electrification, data centres and electric vehicles, significant investment is required in generation, transmission and supporting infrastructure. These shared challenges create opportunities for international partners to contribute capital, expertise and commercial capability to help accelerate development.

Food security was another key area of focus. New Zealand's strengths in food production, innovation and food safety complement Thailand's advanced manufacturing capability, investment capacity and access to international markets. Together, these capabilities have the potential to support growing global demand for safe, sustainable and high-quality food products.

Robert Wall, Chief Executive of Invest New Zealand, said the discussions reinforced the strong alignment between Thai business capability and New Zealand's investment opportunity.

"The conversations highlighted practical areas where New Zealand and Thailand can work together to create long-term commercial value. Whether in energy, advanced manufacturing or food innovation, there is clear potential to combine New Zealand's sector expertise with Thai capital, capability and market connections."

"Invest New Zealand is focused on connecting international investors with opportunities that support economic growth, productivity and resilience. We look forward to building on the relationships established through this engagement and supporting future partnerships between New Zealand and Thai businesses."

New Zealand continues to strengthen its investment environment through reforms designed to improve certainty, efficiency and access for international investors. Alongside these changes, Invest New Zealand is working to develop a pipeline of opportunities across high-growth sectors that can benefit from international capital, expertise and global networks.

As New Zealand's single coordinating agency for international institutional and strategic investors, Invest New Zealand will continue connecting investors with the projects, partners and opportunities needed to turn interest into investment and long-term economic outcomes for New Zealand.
